We have been remodeling, and have been replacing countertops and tile, oftentimes with granite and natural stone.
In the kitchen, we went with quartz - Silestone Sienna Ridge from the Mountain Series for the kitchen proper and Emperador Dark for backsplash accents and the Hearth Room Fireplace. The Master Bath,Crema Marfil Marble for the double sink countertops and some of the tile. Baltic Brown Granite for the Vanity turned Morning Kitchen and travertine for the shower floor. In the family room bar, we replaced the formica counter top with New Venitian, and we used a slate listello to accent the new shower downstairs, too.The Living Room and Family Room fireplaces were already tiled in two very different slates, but I don't know what they are called: one is bluish/greenish and the other is more brownish/orangish.
I love them all, but chose the Black Galaxy we put on the entertainment center/bar because of the way the copper flecks highlight the copper sink. I didn't want black because my friend Katie put black in her kitchen and said it was a bugger to keep clean. But, we only have two small spots of it on the bar, and it really is pretty.
On a personal note, the boys left for the Cosmosphere today for Space Camp. Tanner will be gone for the entire week.
Oh l love granite but can not afford it, only formica for me,just done my kitchen but l do love it, your house is great l would like a bigger house but am content at the moment with the one l have, you have put so much work in to yours it is fab.
